Pontoon Boat: Aqua Patio 240 Elite OB

Aqua Patio 240 Elite OB

Aqua Patio's 240 Elite OB is a versatile pontoon with numerous entertainment options.

Aqua Patio pays homage to the denizens of party cove, the sandbar, the island — well, pick your personal boating hangout — with the 240 Elite OB. Its centerpiece is a versatile aft lounge. In the up position, it offers a rear-facing, couchlike seat almost 5 feet wide that welcomes two in plush, upholstered comfort. Wrapped in a rich soft-touch vinyl, and with both cup holders and speakers at the ready, it’s a great spot when not underway to relax and watch the kids swim or just to take in that postcard sunset. If you’d prefer to get even more relaxed, Aqua Patio ensures that you can.  Hit a switch and an electric motor lowers this seat’s  backrest, along with the backrest of the adjoining, mirror-image bench in the main seating area, to virtually any state of repose, including a 5-foot-8-inch by 5-foot sun bed. Break out the SPF 30!  In this latter position, the forward seats can even pivot upward to form the ultimate aft-facing recliner. Seats slide smoothly on ceramic bearings — a feature we’ve rarely seen and applaud in this application — along an anodized, billet-aluminum track. You can be confident that this rig will keep operating smoothly, even after seasons of use. The entire seating assembly lifts on gas shocks to reveal massive stowage below.
Along with the aft couch, the 240 Elite’s seating creates two more individual conversation areas. Beside the attractive helm, the forward half of the couch is part of an L-shaped lounge. An attractive, matte-wood-grain table is ready to handle the hors d’oeuvres, the drinks or the card game.  Farther forward, parallel benches offer yet another spot to take in the day. Cushions pivot up on single-piece hinges to offer access to the low-maintenance, roto-molded stowage below. A pop-up changing room is integrated into the back of the port bench and opens into the side-gate area. Consider the optional raised helm, which will enhance your visibility forward while motoring, and sea-grass floor covering. The former gives the captain a better view over occupants seated in the line of sight; the latter should prove durable and attractive over long-term use.
The 240 Elite comes standard with two 27-inch pontoons. Paired with a 150 hp Yamaha four-stroke outboard and the optional Performance Package (underdeck skin/lifting strakes/SeaStar hydraulic steering), the boat planed in 3.7 seconds en route to a top speed of 36.6 mph.
